Since 2010, Andrea has been knowledge transfer manager at the University of Bologna (Italy), as head of the Intellectual Property Exploitation unit of the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) and, more recently, of the sector of KTO in charge of scouting, IP protection, business development and exploitation of research results in the fields of life sciences, social sciences and humanities and new plant varieties.
Andrea has been managing and coordinating activities mainly related to assessment of research results for identifying strategies and opportunities to transfer them towards market and society, business development and exploitation of IP protected innovations, management of relationships with companies and investors, negotiation of licenses and other knowledge transfer agreements.
At the University of Bologna, Andrea has directly participated in the designing and implementation of the policies and guidelines on spin-off companies and of the first internal funds and initiatives for proof of concept.
Andrea has been actively involved and coordinated the participation of the University of Bologna in international projects of capacity building and policies' exchange in the field of technology transfer and university-enterprise collaboration.
Before his role as knowledge transfer manager, he conducted research activities in the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) field and managed and coordinated research projects in collaboration between university and companies.
His background mainly includes a bachelor degree in Management Engineering and a Professional Master's Program in Innovation and Knowledge Transfer.
He is member of the board of Netval (Italian Network for research Valorisation).
