Bettina Riedel is the Plant Variety Manager at the Industrial Relations, Third Mission and Communication Division of the University of Bologna. She is responsible for business development and strategic management of intellectual property rights and trademarks of new plant varieties in four core fruit product segments. 

Bettina has work experience is in the public and private sector in an international environment. She has worked in marketing and business development in agribusiness companies in Italy and Germany and in a business law firm in Spain. She holds a PhD in Agricultural economics from Humboldt University Berlin and was a visiting scholar at University of Bologna (Italy), University of Cartagena (Spain), and Iowa State University. Her research focuses on food value chains as well as marketing and consumer research in fruit & veg and healthy food.
