Effi Vandevoorde

Sr. Legal Counsel R&D - Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, Belgium

Effi is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame Law School (IN, USA), where she earned her Juris Doctor degree. Based in Beerse, Belgium, Effi joined Johnson & Johnson in 2016 as in-house Legal Counsel.

The Beerse campus is one of the largest Johnson & Johnson R&D sites in the entire EMEA region. Effi advises and supports various R&D business units across multiple therapeutic areas (Neuroscience, Immunology, Oncology, etc.), focusing on EU government grants, negotiating public-private collaboration agreements (IMI, IHI), research funding agreements, and providing legal guidance on issues related to pharmaceutical R&D, life sciences, intellectual property, licensing agreements, data science (Federated models, RWE, AI, etc.), data sharing, privacy law, R&D supply chain, and procurement. Prior to joining Johnson & Johnson, Effi was in-house Legal Counsel at Ecover – Method Home ("People Against Dirty"), part of the SC Johnson family, alongside other green consumer lifestyle brands.
