Iker was an Agricultural Engineer (2000) from the Higher Technical School of Agricultural Engineering and Biosciences at the Public University of Navarre, with a Master's in Food Technology and a course in agri-food business at the San Telmo Foundation.
He began his knowledge transfer training in 2012 through a RedOTRI course and continued with courses organised by RedTransfer. His professional journey commenced in consulting firms like Accenture or Inkoa.
From November 2003 until 2011, he served as the head of the Local Action Group MENDINET, responsible for managing LEADER aid in the Basque Country. Since 2011, he has held the position of Head of Market and Knowledge Transfer at NEIKER, a Public Agro-livestock technology centre. In this role, he manages the IP and knowledge transfer processes, dynamises internal knowledge to maximise research outcomes, identifies assets and devises protection strategies, designs and implements transfer plans and business strategies, scouts knowledge transfer grants and funding opportunities, represents the organisation strategically to clients, and fosters market alliances with other technology centres.
NEIKER has successfully transferred assets such as animal welfare certification protocols (WELFAIR Animal Welfare Certification Scheme) and potato varieties like BELTZA and EDURNE.
