The European Commission is currently in the process of creating a community of practice for the development of the Code of Practice for the Smart Use of IP. The ultimate objective of this code of practice is to provide help to R&I stakeholders via recommendations and practical examples on how to handle intellectual asset management related challenges in the current R&I context.
The community of practice will support the creation of the code by:
- carrying out an in-depth analysis of existing evidence to identify best practices that can effectively boost knowledge asset management the IP generation chain;
- helping the Commission to make the best use of available information, identifying and gathering examples, fostering the exchange of information and supporting the development of evidence-based policy;
- providing direct inputs for the draft of the code of practice. This task will be facilitated by a drafting team who will be involved in the design and creation of the code on the basis of the inputs from the community.
The first meeting of the community of practice is expected to take place in January 2022. The community of practice will carry out the above-mentioned tasks in a period of approximately 6 months starting from January 2022.
