The National Advisory Assessment Council (NAAC) is pleased to announce the publication of its latest comprehensive report, an in-depth expansion of the previously released white paper. This newly published document provides a thorough examination of key industry challenges, policy recommendations, and strategic frameworks aimed at fostering sustainable development and innovation.

The NAAC report builds on the foundation laid by the white paper, offering extensive analysis, case studies, and data-driven insights. It represents months of rigorous research, stakeholder consultations, and expert collaborations to ensure that the findings and recommendations are both relevant and actionable.

“The ASTP white paper endorsed by NAAC provided a high-level overview of key areas that present opportunities for economic growth. With the full NAAC report, we have delved deeper into solutions and frameworks that can guide decision-makers in shaping future policies and initiatives. In this context, catalyzing the creation of spin-offs through shared pathways and strategies is essential to transforming innovation into tangible economic and societal impact”, said Laura Spinardi, Chair of the NAAC.

Michael Karle, co-lead author of the report, emphasized the significance of supporting innovative technologies and facilitating their transition from academia into successful ventures: “Facilitating the transition of innovative technologies from academia into successful spin-offs is central to my work. By accelerating this process, we aim to achieve outcomes that satisfy both founders and research organizations. During discussions with founders, one major hurdle that consistently arises is the lack of transparency concerning institutional expectations, coupled with a limited understanding of the standards that should be taken into account. In recent years, KTOs have made significant strides in addressing these issues, and it has been exciting to gather and consolidate the wealth of knowledge within our community. I am thrilled to be part of this initiative and we hope it will serve as a robust starting point for further developing best practices at the European level.”

Key highlights of the NAAC report include:

  • Expanded Research & Analysis: A deeper dive into data trends, emerging challenges, and strategic responses.
  • Comprehensive Policy Recommendations: Targeted insights for policymakers, industry leaders, and institutions.
  • Stakeholder Contributions: Perspectives from experts across academia, government, and private sectors.
  • Roadmap for Implementation: Actionable steps for adopting and executing the proposed strategies.

NAAC invites stakeholders, policymakers, researchers, and industry leaders to engage with the report and contribute to the ongoing discourse surrounding its findings. The full document is now available for download here.
