Louis earned a PhD in Bioscience Engineering from Ghent University, where he specialised in precision agriculture and spectral sensing. His research focused on harnessing advanced sensing technologies to create sustainable, data-driven solutions that can be used to improve nutrient management on farms.
During his doctoral studies, Louis developed a new method for analysing the nutritional status of vineyards by interpreting leaf reflectance signals. This approach enables the identification of nutrient deficiencies before they cause visible symptoms, enabling farmers to take timely corrective actions and optimise fertiliser management. Building on this foundation, Louis is now driven by a mission to translate his research results into accessible tools for farmers. By bridging the gap between research and farmers' needs, he aims to empower growers with precision technologies that enhance their productivity while reducing environmental impact.
