Markus Pietzka, Programme Manager START:IP

Markus has over two decades of professional experience in industry and consulting. He started his career as a process engineer for a manufacturer of ceramic components. Afterwards, Markus spent 10 years as logistics director at an international IT service provider. In this role he was responsible for the entire supply chain. Since 2011, Markus has been working as a consultant for start-ups. On the one hand, he oversees the START:IP technology marketplace, which aims to bring together cutting-edge technologies from academic and industrial R&D with technology seekers such as entrepreneurs, investors or company representatives. On the other hand, he supports start-ups and SMEs in sharpening business models, finding strategies and market positioning. Markus is a trained chemist and holds a PhD from the University of Vienna. He has a specialised training in intellectual property management.
