Marta is Head of the Research Impact Management Office (RIMO) at Imperial College London, leading a team of 8 people delivering impact across €100M of research projects.
In the last 5 years, Marta has tripled the size of the team and expanded the services provided to Imperial led collaborative research – including project management and communication, dissemination and exploitation support – in line with research funding and government priorities and understanding individual project goals.
Marta is most proud of the team she has built and the culture she has created, where each member feels valued and heard, with freedom to bring new ideas to the table and explore professional development. This translates to a highly service-oriented and creative team ethos, loved by investigators for the mix of project discipline and playful engagement creations.
Successes include “Escape the Clinic” – an escape room that engaged over 500 players in 4 different countries, breaking barriers with the public on the hard scientific choices in managing cardiovascular disease.
Her engagement work comes full circle by attracting follow-on funding for academic teams, creating long lasting collaborations across multiple disciplines and opening doors to new impactful opportunities.
