Paul Killeen is a Senior Standardisation Expert and ‘Research & Innovation lead’ at the National Standards Authority of Ireland.
Paul is currently working as a Seconded National Expert at the European Commission in DG CONNECT (Digital Policy) working in the ICT Standardisation Sector team with colleagues across DG CONNECT and other DGs including DG RTD (R&I policy), DG GROW (SMEs & enterprise development policy) and DG JRC (science for policy) - with a focus on the strategic integration of research, innovation and standardisation for greater impact, in support of the European Standardisation Strategy and DG CONNECT policy initiatives on digital regulation, standardisation and innovation.
Formerly the Head of Research, Innovation and Enterprise Development at Technical University Shannon in Ireland, and Senior Innovation Manager at University College Dublin, Paul also chaired the Knowledge & Technology Transfer Committee of ‘Institutes of Technology Ireland’ and was a member of the national Knowledge Transfer Ireland Stakeholder Forum.
Paul joined NSAI in 2017, where he promotes and supports the engagement of national R&I experts in the early stages of international standards development across new & emerging technology areas, aligned with National & European policy priorities. Prior to NSAI, Paul held various senior technical and business development positions in leading multi-national corporations and academic institutions in Ireland and Internationally.
Paul is a Chartered Engineer with bachelor's and master's degrees in engineering, and a master's in business administration / MBA.
