Poul de Haan is Senior IP Counsel at Philips IP&S (Intellectual Property & Standards), the IP department of Royal Philips. In this role he closely works with the Philips Europartners group on the IP aspects of Philips participation in European and nationally funded collaboration projects with other industry partners, Universities, and research organizations. Next to he supports the Philips Radiology Informatics business on all their IP matters, focusing mainly on creating and maintaining their patent portfolio.
After his PhD in Electronics Engineering in 1995 he joined Philips in the advanced product development group of Philips Personal Health (at that time Domestic Appliances and Personal Care). He joined IP&S in 2001 in the team for Philips Semiconductors (currently NXP) and qualified as Dutch patent attorney in 2004 and European Patent Attorney in 2005. Since then he supported various businesses on all IP matters, such as IP portfolio creation, risk assessments, IP scouting, licensing and M&A projects. Also at that time he closely worked with the Europartners group. Before taking-up his current role he headed the IP Support group within IP&S, with teams in the Netherlands, US, Japan, China and India, taking care of all operational matters of managing the Philips portfolio of patents, design rights, trademarks, and domain names.
