Sara Holland, Patent Attorney and Partner at Potter Clarkson, supports early-stage scientist-founded companies in engineering biology across various sectors by providing IP strategy expertise, while actively contributing to the field through leadership roles, community initiatives, and mentoring.
She works with companies operating in diverse sectors, including food, therapeutics, agritech, materials, chemicals, and oil production, helping them identify and protect their intellectual property. In the biomedical space, Sara collaborates on innovations such as cell therapies, gene therapies, organoids, antibodies and immunotherapies, PCR-based diagnostics, biomarker panels, high-throughput screening methods, and viral diagnostics.
Actively engaged in the engineering biology community, she serves on the UK Government’s DSIT Engineering Biology Steering Group, is Vice Chair of the BioIndustry Association’s Engineering Biology Advisory Committee (EBAC), co-founded the Women in Synthetic Biology and East Midlands-based BioAmass networks, and mentors through several programmes.
