Sonia Touriño Eirín has been at the forefront of technology transfer at UPC, managing innovation projects, facilitating the creation of spinoffs, and negotiating key agreements. With a strong foundation in research and a career spanning healthcare innovation and academia-industry collaboration, she is committed to driving research translation into impactful, market-ready solutions.
Since 2018, Sonia Touriño Eirín has been leading technology transfer activities at UPC, overseeing a diverse portfolio of innovation projects, supporting the annual creation of 3–4 spinoffs, and negotiating licensing, shareholding, and collaboration agreements. Her role centres on transferring advanced research from UPC’s research groups to industry, fostering innovation, and enhancing the university's global competitiveness. She is a Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) and an active member of ASTP.
Prior to her tenure at UPC, Sonia worked with Fundació Parc Taulí, where she spearheaded innovation initiatives in healthcare, developing strategies to translate clinical research into practical applications.
Her career began in research, contributing to projects in both the private and public sectors. She has participated in numerous national and international R&D projects and authored multiple peer-reviewed publications, particularly in the fields of food technology and analytical chemistry.
With extensive experience in innovation management, intellectual property, and strategic partnerships, Sonia is passionate about bridging the gap between academia and industry, transforming research into viable, market-ready solutions.
