Valentina Romano has 20 years’ experience as a research manager at the Politecnico di Torino, Italy. She was responsible for the management of several EU projects, not limited to her organisation.
She is currently head of Collaborative and Multidisciplinary Research Division within the Research, Technology Transfer and Innovation Department and she leads a team of experts in pre-award activities. From 2018 to 2022 she has been a member of the Professional Development and Recognition Committee and of the Awards Committee at the European Association of Research Manager. Since January 2020 she has been leading a network of Italian research managers whose aim is to raise awareness, to promote upskilling and reskilling and to pave the way for the recognition of research management as a profession (www.italianresearchmanagers.eu). She has experience as a trainer on research management in several courses at national and international level. Since 2023, she has been part of the scientific board for the national training course titled "Promoting the Impact of EU Research: Activities and Competencies of the Impact Manager", playing a key role in the content organization and coordination of the 3 courses’ editions. She is also a trainer on the impact of research-funded projects.
