In 2022, Ying joined ETH transfer, where she manages the patenting and licensing of technologies in environmental and earth sciences.
Ying received her MS and PhD in biogeochemistry from the California Institute of Technology. She later worked as a postdoctoral fellow in astrobiology at the Carnegie Institution of Washington and as a research scientist in atmospheric chemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Ying is also pursuing a Juris Doctor degree at Georgia State University College of Law, specializing in Intellectual Property law. She has interned with Equifax and Georgia Lawyers for the Arts.
She is currently involved in an Open Source Software (OSS) project at ETH, which aims to highlight the impact of OSS, support its use and distribution, share best practices for license management, and promote its application for social and commercial benefits.
