Bridging the Gap: Rethinking Knowledge Transfer in the Arts and Humanities - Next SHAPE Spotlight

What is knowledge transfer in the humanities and why is it so important? Unlike the natural sciences, it's not about patents, but about the application of cultural, historical, and social knowledge. This session will explore how to bridge the gap between academia and society through interdisciplinary collaborations, creative industry partnerships, and innovative formats - using real examples from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Cologne.

A key approach in this area is the Gateway Exzellenz Start-up Center’s Transferscout concept, which actively connects researchers with external partners to foster collaboration and real-world impact. By identifying potential synergies and facilitating knowledge exchange, Transferscouts play a crucial role in translating academic expertise into societal innovation.
