The AI & Digital Innovation Award recognises initiatives that use artificial intelligence or digital tools to improve the effectiveness, efficiency or services of knowledge transfer offices.
The shortlisted projects show how digital platforms, data tools and AI applications are transforming the way knowledge transfer professionals support researchers, companies and innovation ecosystems.

The Platform for University Innovation and Economic Development (InnoHub) is a digital platform designed to support scientists, innovators, businesses and investors throughout the knowledge commercialisation process. By integrating AI tools that help researchers generate project summaries, value propositions, budgets and pitch materials, the platform lowers barriers for scientists with limited business experience. In 2025, the platform supported dozens of research projects and pilot teams, demonstrating how AI can streamline knowledge transfer and strengthen collaboration between academia, industry and investors.

Secure Azure-Based AI for Improving Commercialisation Fund Success Rates is a joint initiative between Trinity College Dublin and Dublin City University that uses artificial intelligence to improve the quality of research commercialisation funding proposals. By analysing historical applications and reviewer feedback, the system provides structured suggestions to strengthen new submissions. Implemented in a secure Microsoft Copilot environment, the initiative demonstrates how responsible AI adoption can improve proposal quality, increase efficiency and support knowledge transfer teams in preparing competitive funding applications.

MKB Datalab-Oost is an initiative of Radboud University that helps SMEs and public organisations explore and implement artificial intelligence and data solutions. Through student-led projects, consultancy “Data Buddy” programmes and masterclasses, companies receive practical support while students gain real-world experience. In 2025, the initiative completed dozens of projects for regional businesses, improving efficiency and innovation capacity. MKB Datalab-Oost demonstrates how universities can strengthen regional economies while supporting knowledge transfer and developing the next generation of AI specialists.
