The BioMedical SIG fosters discussions on translating research into tangible healthcare solutions, with a focus on the full bench-to-bedside process. Key themes include identifying real clinical needs, navigating regulatory pathways, maturing early-stage projects, and improving investor readiness. Members also address the transition from preclinical to clinical research, and provide training for researchers and knowledge transfer professionals to engage effectively with pharma and venture capital.

The SIG explores sustainable practices in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals—such as drug repurposing and the use of natural products—to maximise long-term impact. A subset of members would like to create a stakeholder group to identify main opportunities and challenges, develop reference guidelines (legal, IP, preclinical, regulatory), and connect stakeholders with complementary needs to foster new collaborations.
