Drug repurposing has tremendous potential to help address the thousands of rare and common diseases that remain without effective treatments. However, many researchers may be embarking translational studies and drug product development for the very first time. The REMEDi4ALL platform is supported by the EC to partner with academics, nascent biotechs, and patient groups to bring comprehensive expertise and resources to facilitate development of new therapeutic opportunities for existing drugs—whether approved or investigational-stage but "shelved" for commercial reasons—from laboratory/clinical research through to market entry and patient access.
