From research to spin-off: ROOM to grow as an SSH valorisation journey

This event has now expired

This presentation tells the story of ROOM to Grow, an evidence-based mobile tool designed to support student wellbeing, and its journey from research-driven university innovation to business planning and spin-out formation. As an example from the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) sector, ROOM demonstrates how knowledge valorisation can emerge not from patented deep technologies, but from scientifically grounded interventions, implementation expertise and institutional partnerships.

The presentation will provide a brief introduction to the product, reflect on the decision to explore commercialisation and the challenges of doing so within an SSH context, and present the key findings of our NWO-funded commercial feasibility study, including the proposed business model and route to market. The aim is to offer ROOM as a practical example of what SSH valorisation can look like in practice.
