Citizen Science increasingly involves citizens not only in data collection, but also in problem definition, research design, interpretation and action. While considerable attention has been paid to knowledge co-production, a crucial downstream question remains less explored: what happens after knowledge has been produced?
The talk will focus on the transition from knowledge production to knowledge valorisation, examining how knowledge generated through Citizen Science can be translated into public policy, organisational practices, innovation, services, behavioural change and sustained community action. Particular attention will be given to the challenges of understanding and assessing these diverse pathways of societal value creation, in light of recent European policy developments on citizen engagement and knowledge valorisation.
