Innovative companies are crucial for the EU’s competitiveness and economic security. However, they still face several barriers that hinder their growth, including administrative burden and difficulties in accessing funding, talent, infrastructures and the market. The European Innovation Act aims to create an innovation-friendly environment that supports innovative companies to grow in the EU. In this context, the European Commission has launched a public consultation to gather feedback on the key challenges faced by innovative companies in the EU in the framework of the preparation of the European Innovation Act. This includes six categories of challenges related to access to finance, talents, markets, infrastructures, commercialisation of publicly funded research and innovation, as well as regulatory complexity and red tape.
The consultation addresses individuals and companies, industry representatives, representatives of SMEs, representatives of the startup community, members of academia and research institutions, representatives of the financial sector, public bodies, including public buyers, representatives of research and technology infrastructure, and other stakeholders.
The results of this public consultation will be summarised in a factual report, which will be published on the Have Your Say website within eight weeks of the deadline for the consultation. The results will also be analysed together with other data collected through targeted stakeholder consultations and the impact assessment.
