Maeve Murphy, Commercialisation Programme Executive at University College Cork (UCC), has been awarded the Inteum scholarship to attend the ASTP Annual Conference 2026.
Maeve works with UCC Innovation, where she supports research commercialisation and entrepreneurship initiatives across the university. She also leads SPARK, UCC’s undergraduate entrepreneurship programme, with a strong focus on early-stage innovation and creating more inclusive pathways to company creation.
Reflecting on her motivation to apply, Maeve highlighted the opportunity to grow professionally within the knowledge transfer field. As someone relatively new to the sector, she is particularly interested in connecting with peers and gaining insight into how knowledge transfer is approached across different institutional contexts.
“I applied for the ASTP Annual Conference scholarship because it offers a valuable opportunity to build my professional capability in knowledge transfer through exposure to international best practice.
Looking ahead to the conference, Maeve is eager to engage with the community and exchange practical experiences. She is especially interested in discussions around how universities and knowledge transfer offices can support more inclusive approaches to commercialisation.
“I’m looking forward to the chance to hear directly from others working in this space and share practical experiences.”
Maeve expects that attending AC26 will provide valuable insights into emerging trends and offer practical ideas she can bring back to her work at UCC.
“Attending will give me a stronger understanding of emerging trends in the sector and a practical sounding board I can return to as I continue to develop UCC’s commercialisation and entrepreneurship activities.”
Encouraging others to attend, she emphasised the value of stepping outside day-to-day responsibilities.
“It’s a great chance to step out of your day-to-day work, hear how others are tackling similar challenges, and pick up ideas you can actually use.”
ASTP looks forward to welcoming Maeve to the Annual Conference and supporting her continued development within the global knowledge transfer community. Do not miss the opportunity to join Maeve and peers from across the sector at this year’s conference—register now to be part of the conversation.
