Anders Steen Jørgensen

Anders Steen Jørgensen graduated as an Economist from Aarhus University, Denmark in 1988. His first job was at Danmark Protein, one of the world’s pioneers to use Ultrafiltration for purification of whey proteins. In 1999, after a detour in related food businesses, Anders returned to Arla Foods Ingredients to lead the commercialization of dairy ingredients in nutritional applications.: infant food, medical and sports nutrition.

Always fond of customer contact, especially the long-term business development dimension of open innovation, often involving academic partners, Anders has recently, in 2024, moved to a position as Strategic Advisor in Arla Foods Ingredients’ Research and Development.

Here, he works on topics that genuinely require technology transfer and development through collaboration. As Arla Foods Ingredients has specialised in proteins of animal origin for many years, it is also exploring new technologies, such as precision fermentation and cell cultures, to ensure that proteins can be produced in sufficient volumes to help feed the world while, at the same time, protecting our planet and using resources responsibly, with the smallest possible negative impact on the environment.

Anders lives in Denmark in an empty nest, as his two daughters have recently moved out. He now has more spare time for cycling, running, and swimming, while his wife, Charlotte, devotes her time to her charitable organisation. With the help of young college students, the organisation prepares meals for people who have recently been discharged from hospitals in three major cities.
