Benita Mackay is a Patent Advisor at Bryn Aarflot AS. She has extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications, particularly in the areas of software-based innovations and computer-implemented inventions. She represents clients both nationally and internationally, with expertise in patent prosecution before the UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO), United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and the European Patent Office (EPO). She advises on the patentability of innovations and supports clients in developing effective strategies to protect high-value ideas.

Benita began her training as a patent attorney in England at a leading UK-German intellectual property firm, where she completed a postgraduate qualification in UK intellectual law. She has a background in physics, later specialising in artificial intelligence and medicine. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Southampton, focusing on laser physics, metamaterials and AI, and a PhD from the Zepler Institute on the application of laser physics and AI to bioengineering.
