Sandra Aresta

Sandra leads the Knowledge Transfer and Entrepreneurship Office at INESC-ID, a research institute in Lisbon, Portugal, dedicated to Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering. She organises and supports all knowledge transfer activities across the institute’s research community.
After several years as a researcher in both academia and the biotechnology industry, Sandra began her career in knowledge transfer in 2007 at the Technology Transfer Department of the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement in France, where she was responsible for the strategic management and commercialisation of intellectual property rights (IPR). In 2017, she returned to her home country, Portugal, initially joining CIBIO – Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources, a research unit associated with the University of Porto, as Knowledge Transfer Officer. Since 2024, she has been working at INESC-ID.
Sandra holds a degree in Microbiology and Genetics from the University of Lisbon (1997), a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Biology from Paris XI University (2001), and a degree in IP Management from IEEPI/University of Strasbourg (2010).
