Since March 2025, Jurgen Joossens has served as Deputy CEO of the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST), where he leads the institute’s Valorisation strategy. In this role, he established LIST’s first Technology Transfer Office (TTO), the Partnership and Venture Office, which unites Business Development, Intellectual Property & Licensing, and a Venture team. His leadership is focused on maximizing the impact of research by translating scientific advancements into innovative solutions that benefit society and the economy. He plays a pivotal role in the institute’s strategic direction as a member of the LIST Executive Committee (ExCom), acting as the right hand and backup to the CEO.

Prior to joining LIST, Dr. Joossens was Head of the Valorisation Office at the University of Antwerp, where he played a key role in supporting researchers in protecting and commercializing intellectual property. He was responsible for building a new TTO team and he was also the driver behind the increased valorisation output of the UAntwerpen, with a strong emphasis on spin-off creation and license income. He also served as Vice President Finance and Business Development at ASTP, Europe’s premier association for knowledge transfer professionals, and contributed to the Board of Directors at UBIS NV, the University of Antwerp’s incubator.

With a career spanning academia and industry, Dr. Joossens began as a scientist at Janssen Pharmaceutica (Johnson & Johnson) and later served as Valorisation Manager at the Antwerp Drug Discovery Network. He is a co-author of over 60 scientific publications and a co-inventor on nine patent applications, reflecting his deep commitment to innovation and collaboration.

Dr. Joossens holds a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry (2005) and a pharmaceutical degree (2000), both from the University of Antwerp.
