Dr. Miguel Ángel Armengol de la Hoz is the Head of the Big Data Area at Fundación Progreso y Salud, the R&D&I catalyst for the Regional Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs of Andalusia. He holds a telecommunications engineering degree and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, specializing in data analysis applied to medicine.
He has worked as a data scientist at MIT's Laboratory for Computational Physiology – Critical Data and was a research fellow at Harvard Medical School, where he participated in advanced analytics projects at Massachusetts General Hospital for four years. His expertise lies in creating and leveraging collaborative clinical databases, primarily using machine learning and deep learning. In 2022, he was recognized in the Nova 111 List Spain among the top 10 in the Public Service, Research, and Education category. This list highlights the most talented young professionals under 35 with the best training and leadership potential. He has contributed to over twenty research projects in medical data science, fostering an open and distributed collaboration philosophy. He has also participated in healthcare data science collaboration events worldwide, promoting open and cooperative science.
