From Policy to Regional Innovation in Europe: Lessons Learnt from the VIADUCT Project

This free event offers a unique opportunity to connect with innovation professionals from across Europe, discover how European policy recommendations are being translated into tangible regional impact, and gain valuable insights into the development of thriving regional innovation ecosystems. Participants will also learn about future funding opportunities and hear inspiring examples of policy improvements and innovative initiatives emerging from the VIADUCT project.

The afternoon will feature the interactive workshop "Innovation Buzzwords Under the Microscope", led by knowledge, innovation and technology transfer expert Karen Laigaard, who will challenge participants to rethink widely used concepts such as valorisation, proof of concept, spin-offs, and ecosystem building through practical examples and lively discussion. To round off the day, the first 20 registered participants will be invited to join a complimentary guided tour of Seville, providing the perfect opportunity to discover the city's rich history and culture.  Registration is free but required.

  • 14:15- 14:30: Insight into Interreg Europe: VIADUCT project officers will provide an overview of Interreg Europe projects and opportunities.
  • 14:30 - 15:00: From Policy to Practice: Strengthening Europe’s Regional Innovation Ecosystems through the VIADUCT journey: We will embark on a dynamic journey through the VIADUCT project and explore how European policy recommendations were translated into concrete regional actions and how the partner regions and organisations mutually inspired each other. We will share  key project results, inspiring good practices, regional challenges, policy improvements and newly developed initiatives that are helping regional innovation ecosystems to develop and thrive.
  • 15:00- 15:15: Coffee Break
  • 15:15 - 16:45: Workshop: Innovation Buzzwords Under the Microscope: Valorisation. Proof of Concept. Spin-offs. Ecosystem building. These terms are everywhere, but what do they really mean in practice? In this highly interactive session, Knowledge, Innovation and Technology Transfer Expert, Karen Laigaard will challenge participants to rethink some of the most widely used concepts used in innovation policy and technology transfer. Drawing on experiences and examples from the VIADUCT project, we will explore what works, what doesn't, and how regions can move from buzzwords to meaningful action. Expect lively discussions and practical insights to implement in your Technology Transfer Office, innovation office or public administration.
