“Putting Research Into Use: Social Innovation for the Better” is a 2025 report from Universities Norway Innovation that examines how Norway’s universities and colleges can strengthen their contribution to social innovation. The report offers an overview of the current state of social innovation in the higher education sector, identifies key challenges, and proposes measures to ensure that research results are more effectively translated into solutions that benefit society. It is grounded in a broad, interdisciplinary, and practice?oriented understanding of social innovation and includes recommendations for building stronger culture, capacity, and competence across the sector. Ruta Zmuidzinaite from Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) participated in the working group that prepared the report and will present its findings.
